The past 18 and 19 February I attended the 1st Hispanic Congress of Women Entrepreneurs in Africa Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Overall it was interesting, but little business and too institutional for my initial expectations and those of some fellow entrepreneurs.
The "corridors" are always the juiciest part of the meetings and they got to meet interesting women: a Montserrat (without knowing who is at fault here writing and sharing), Carmen and Astrid ( that move with wonder and determination and open international markets to women around the world), Amaia (a moderator sensitive and humorous) and Teresa (who reminded us that "women are all Southern northwind").
The two gems that I took of the meeting were two experiences showed Ferran Guallar, Banesto Cultural Foundation, and Zoubida Charrouf, University of Rabat. Both Zoubida Ferran as we presented two draft economic empowerment of women are very interesting. The first outlined the inicitiva "Responsible Tourism and Sustainable Development in Africa" of new creation, a well-planned and developed the idea of promoting alternative tourism routes encouraging African women who run establishments and their role in community development and natural environment.
The second project presented a long history of promoting cooperatives of women for exploitation of argan oil Morocco initiative has had a phenomenal reception in European markets, which has contributed to the promotion of a traditional work done by women, which made them protagonists of their livelihood and has contrbuido to the regeneration of vegetation southern Morocco. A feast for the senses. Here are videos on youtube of argan oil production and project.
